Akasheh Asareh
Asareh Akasheh was born in 1984 in Tehran. She graduated in painting from the University of Arts in Tehran. She works in printmaking and papermaking. In her work, paper is not only a medium of artistic expression. Its structure, texture and form itself - obtained by the artist independently during the crafting process - goes beyond being a mere two-dimensional substance from which an artwork is produced, thus transforming it into an object in itself.
She was selected to participate in the 5th Beijing International Biennale in 2012. She was also shortlisted for the Kurt Beers 100 Painters of Tomorrow in 2014. In 2008, she won the merit award in the 3rd ‘New Generation’ Drawing and Painting Competition in Tehran. She received the gold award of the “Haus des Papiers” in Berlin in 2024.
