Akasheh Asareh

Asareh Akasheh (born in 1984 in Tehran) practices spans graphic arts and paper sculpting. She graduated in Painting from the University of Art in Tehran. In 2008, Asareh Akasheh received an award of distinction at the 3rd "New Generation" Drawing and Painting Competition in Tehran. Four years later, she was invited to participate in the 5th International Beijing Biennale (2012). In 2014, she was shortlisted for the prestigious "100 Painters of Tomorrow" survey curated by Kurt Beers. In 2024, she was awarded the Gold Prize by Haus des Papiers in Berlin.

In her work, paper is not merely a medium of artistic expression. Its structure, texture, and form—shaped by the artist herself through a meticulous, craft-based process—go beyond being a simple two-dimensional material. Instead, the paper transforms into an object in its own right.
