Barbara Falender
Barbara Falender (born 1947 in Wrocław) is a Polish sculptor, photographer, and draughtswoman. She graduated with distinction from the Sculpture Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1972, where she studied under Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz. Her works have been widely exhibited in both solo and group shows in Poland and internationally. She has received numerous awards and scholarships from institutions in Italy, France, and the United States. In 2007, she was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis.
Falender’s art is marked by sensuality and subtlety. She primarily works in stone, bronze, porcelain, and epoxy, skillfully combining materials and textures into cohesive, expressive forms. Her sculptures often explore the tension between geometry and corporeality, reflecting a lasting fascination with the human body and abstract form. Since the 1980s, she has also been developing delicate porcelain works characterized by their poetic and refined nature.
