Sobczyński Jakub

Jakub Sobczyński (born in 2003 in Warsaw) – painter, student at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Graduate of Miguel de Cervantes High School No. XXXIV, where he attended art classes.
In his practice, he focuses on painting inspired by everyday observations of the urban landscape of Warsaw. He works mainly on the basis of his own photographs, treating them as a tool for recording motifs and arrangements that attract his attention. Colour and form play a key role in his work – the artist admires the paintings of Jan Cybis, Tadeusz Dominik and Andrzej Rysiński, striving to achieve a similar finesse in building harmonious compositions and colour combinations. Sobczyński emphasises that a painting does not have to tell a story or convey content – for him, the most important thing is how it works visually.

In 2025, he received three awards at the 47th Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale, receiving prizes from the jury and the magazines Mint and Miej Miejsce.
