Ultraawangarda. The Klip Circle and the Poznań underground of the 1980s
The National Museum in Poznań is hosting the exhibition Ultraawangarda. Koło Klipsa i poznański underground of the 1980s presenting the work of the legendary Poznań group Koło Klipsa, whose work was categorised as part of the 1980s New Expressionist trend. The year 2024 marks the fortieth anniversary of the first exhibition of Koło Klipsa organised in 1984 at the Great 19 Gallery. The work of the group, which in its main composition consisted of: Mariusz Kruk, Wojciech Kujawski, Leszek Knaflewski and Krzysztof Markowski, will be shown at the exhibition in the context of the underground music scene of Poznań - a space of alternative circulation in which avant-garde, experimental and punk music resounded as a voice of opposition to the official cultural policy of the state.
