'On joint' - solo exhibition by Anna Myszkowiak at BWA Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski

Anna Myszkowiak's solo exhibition 'On joint' will open at BWA Ostrowiec Świętorzyski on Saturday 19 July 2025 at 6pm. In 2023, the artist was the winner of the 16th LOOSTRO Autumn Art Salon organised by the BWA Ostrowiec Świętorzyski team, and one of the prizes is an exhibition at the organiser's premises.

In her exhibition At the 'On joint', Anna Myszkowiak explores what is in between - transitional states, connections and elements of reality that are invisible on a daily basis. Her sculptures become guides that draw attention to the imperceptible but important aspects of the surrounding world.

The central motif of the artist's work is organic forms and their relationship with air, body and space. In the Shape Beloved of Life series, the sculptures resemble tubular, corporeal structures made of paper, which symbolise vitality and elusiveness, at once being something familiar and alien. The cocoon - a closed form - becomes a symbol of transformation and potential realities.

Myszkowiak's graduation work explores the theme of breathing as a symbol of life. The sculpture, combining wood and metal frame, resembles breathing - from inhalation to exhalation - and the “in-between” state takes on a material form.

The artist often reaches for multiplication, such as in the work Matryce, where thirty sheets document the everydayness of her body. These repetitive traces are intimate and confront the viewer with the question of the limits of corporeality and identity.

In In-sight, Myszkowiak explores the relationship between internal and external perceptions, presenting shifting images of the female torso. The sculpture Close, on the other hand, combines wood and metal, symbolising the connection between the body and the earth, reflecting a strong rootedness and presence.

All of the artist's work oscillates around the interface: visible and invisible, personal and communal, corporeal and spiritual. Her works sensitise us to the subtleties of being and allow us to see what is usually overlooked.
