Opening of Mariusz Kruk's exhibition "Idzie Grześ przez wieś..." at Galeria Artis
Report from the opening of Mariusz Kruk’s exhibition, held at Galeria Artis in Poznań (12.02.2026). The event brought together a diverse audience of art enthusiasts, collectors, and friends of the gallery, creating an evening full of inspiring conversations and creative reflection, allowing direct engagement with the artist and his work.
The exhibition “Idzie Grześ przez wieś…” [Little George is going through the village] offers a comprehensive presentation of Kruk’s oeuvre, featuring works created over more than four decades. Paintings, works on paper, objects, and assemblages form a multilayered narrative in which everyday life is subjected to subtle yet consistent transformation.
Mariusz Kruk’s work emerges from a desire to understand both himself and the surrounding reality. The artist reverses familiar hierarchies, replacing them with strategies of multiplication and unification. Everyday objects, seemingly familiar, operate here according to new rules, and their rescaling prompts reflection on the status of things, meanings, and our place in the world.
A key dimension of the exhibition is the presence of oneirism in Kruk’s practice—not as literal narrative, but as an atmosphere that organizes forms and meanings. In this context, ephemeral works by the Koło Klipsa group are also evoked, whose experience of transience has left a lasting imprint on Kruk’s artistic language.
We warmly thank all our visitors, and for those who were unable to attend the opening, we sincerely invite you to experience the exhibition during gallery opening hours.
